AI governance approach for the newsroom: after finding roughly 80% of staff already using consumer AI tools, Sipa / Ouest-France shifted from restriction to guided encouragement, built on four principles — human oversight, transparency with readers, full assessment before deployment, and editorial responsibility. A core rule requires editorial content to be entered only into its in-house 'Muse' assistant, keeping its journalism out of external AI platforms. Developed with unions from the outset, with regular staff training and cross-publisher work (including with Mistral AI).
